Can you feel how autumn is creeping in? The rays of sun are longer with a copper tone reminding me that soon it will be September! The time of harvest is a fertile time for creativity. A perfect time to put time aside to play, explore and foster the creative sprit alive inside of you. This fall I would like to open up the possibility of a hybrid inperson/zoom offering. I can offer 3 spots for in person- the benefit of inperson is that you will have access to diffrent materials in my studio. I may reinstate a demo as part of that ( although that would take away time from our personal making. I'd love to hear your thoughts are on this idea). I plan to continue offering Sunday intensities 3-6pm, always scheduled for the last Sunday of the month. Starting Sept. 25th! I will also offer two 6 week Artplay sessions. The 1st one will continue to be on Tuesdays but the 2ed session will go back to Thursdays. 1st session Aug-30-Oct.4th 2ed session Oct.20-Dec 1st For those paying by paypal the prices have increased slightly ( this is b/c of the paypal fees) All prices are in CA$. $60 each session or $15 drop in Paypal $65 or $18 drop in Inperson $90 or $20 drop in ( to cover materials, if you want to bring your own materials it would be the same price as zoom participates).
Sunday Intensives Sept.25/Oct.30/Nov.27
$75 for all 3 or $30 drop in Paypal $80 for all 3 and $33 drop Inperson $90 or $35 drop in ( to cover materials, if you want to bring your own materials it would be the same price as zoom participates).
Sessions are limited to 8-10 people. I like to keep it intimate so we can share freely and enjoy each other's company. If you want to register or if you have any questions you can reply to this email or you can email me at frsodessa@gmail.com You can pay by cash, etransfer or paypal (for US people). I now accept debit and visa (in person).
Commit yourself to a whole Autumn of Artplay $180 includes both six week sessions and all 3 Sundays.
ARTplay is for the creative in you! Whether you identify as an artist or not, we can all benefit from playtime! It works for both the experienced and aspiring creatives. It is not a traditional class. It's more of a team of people who want to put creative play back into their lives. It's a sharing of making, side by side. Every session starts with a check in, a quiet contemplation (5 min), intention setting, time for play/making, ending with show and tell.
It can be hard to stay committed to our creativity and play at home with no other playmates, this is where ARTplay comes in.
You can use ARTplay to try out something new and have a community witness you. Have you always wanted to write poetry? Or paint dancers or just see what happens when you play your instrument in a new way? If you have ever had a fleeting thought of inspiration, this is the time you can set aside to try out those ideas. ARTplay is not about critique. It's about birthing creativity.
What people say about participating in Artplay: ‘The facilitator holds the space beautifully, is a skilled communicator and an inspiration. There is no restrictive definition of what “art” is. Every time I attend I learn something new! Collage, ink, combining media, etc The trust and friendship that has evolved in the community is a highlight of the experience. As well as learning and being inspired by my fellow Artplay friends.’ Julia Creighton Artplay participate since 2020 ‘Besides enjoying the experience of making Art by playing, I like that it’s getting me to approach art making from a different perspective, maybe even from a child’s perspective which encourages me to have fun, explore and take the pressure off so that I don’t feel like I have to get it right.’ Jo-Anne Brown 2021 ‘Being able to attend Artplay gives me focus, staying connected with an amazing group of artists, social interaction, being able to build new relationships and gaining inspiration from everyone who attends Artplay. Thank you for creating and hosting a wonderful art class each week.’ Megan Pegg 2021
About the fasilitator: Odessa Spore I've been making art since I was a child and my goal is to try not to stop! It's just so much fun. Although I have studied art and I have BFA from the NSCAD, I still believe strongly in the value of play as a means to discover one's natural talent. I’ve also been a meditator since I was 16. Meditation and creativity complement each other! Our senses bring us into the present moment and help us connect to the raw spontaneous energy alive inside of us. This, in turn, can fuel our creative spirit.
